Just when we were getting to the home stretch of our home study....things started feeling not quite right: Re-secheduled meetings, calls and emails not returned, etc. Things just didn't seem to be adding up. Then about a week ago I got a text from our adoption worker saying that she was no longer with the agency and wishing us luck in the process. Ugh. Not the end of the world....just a little hiccup. We really liked her and just hate that she's moved on.
Meanwhile, because of my involvment in a local Crisis Pregnancy clinic and being busy with last minute prepartions for their annual Banquet, I decided to get through the banquet before I started knocking on doors trying to get answers and back on track.
The agency actually beat me to the punch. I lady called and told me that T was no longer with the agency and that she would be taking over the workoad. She said, "Maria, do you remember me? I'm Beth's neighbor." Turns out, we went to school together and had a lovely conversation. She's coming on Tuesday for another visit to finish up the homestudy. We still have to complete the "Dear Birthmother," Letter and medical exams, but that should bring us pretty close to the finish line.
I asked if there were any birtmothers they were working with and she told me there was one and possibly another coming in. She said the social worker who works with the birthmoms knows me too. Turns out, she used to work for me when she was in college. Small little world.
Still no clue where all this will lead. This go 'round, I'm actually looking forward to the waiting stage. That might change six months down the road, but it's how I feel right now.

I'm glad that the agency picked up where your adoption worker left off, and contacted you quickly. Here's hoping everyone goes smoothly as the process moves forward.
